Moving. Connecting.

Genesee Spridco
Theatre Creator & Educator
Theatre is the most genuine empathetic connection between people in a world of disconnection. I am excited for the next chapter of theatre creation, breaking fourth walls, and enriching collaboration. Theatre is for all bodies, voices, and perspectives and my work both on the stage and in the classroom leads with playfulness and mindfulness. I believe the way we make theatre is just as important as the final product.
About Me.
- I am passionate for the balance of explicit and implicit physical storytelling, complicite and risk with every audience, and the joy of creation. I believe how we create our art is as important as the art create, toning sustainable practices and cleaning out toxic practices.
- I believe all bodies create art and hold stories, some that are held can become unhelpful habits, and some that are shared can change how we see the world and move forward as a collective.
- I believe that movement and mental health are tightly woven in our somatic and kinesthetic sense of self.
- I believe that the theatre has put much weight into certain stories, while overlooking so many others and that to bring light to these stories is through empowering actors to be the creator/producer of their own work.
- In a world of growing isolation through echo chamber division and personalized technology, I believe theatre can and will be a way of rebuilding empathy together.
- I love to look through classics with a tilted perspective fueled with my love of clown logic, poetic whimsy, and biting commentary.
- I dance with fire, chase after my toddler, and travel the country performing with the funniest women in the country. My heros include Carol Burnett, Betty White, Natasha Lyonne, and Ms. Rachel.
